Swim With Turtles at Little Farmer’s Cay
Take a Staniel Cay Adventures Tour to Little Farmer’s Cay . This tiny cay has a population of 66.
Little Farmer’s Cay is also home to abundant wildlife, including exotic birds, sea turtles, dolphins, sharks and tropical fish. Deep sea caves and coral reefs are nearby for world-class diving and snorkeling.
Little Farmer’s is located on the banks side of the southern Exuma Cays just 20 nm south of Staniel Cay. It’s easily reached from either the south or north on the banks side. Farmer’s Cay Cut offers access from Exuma Sound, but use caution in this cut. It’s wide, deep and easy to read, but a large swell from sustained easterly winds against an ebb tide can make it a rough ride. The currents are also quite strong.
Located just south of Big Farmer’s Cay, this stretch of pure white sand emerges from blue-green water at low tide. It is widely known as the “Mile-long Sandbar” and is perfect for shelling, sunbathing, and picnicking. You will have it all to yourself on most days!
Little Farmer’s Cay
Here at Little Farmers Cay is where you will swim and be able to pet wild sea turtles. The turtles come into the bay because of the locals that clean conch in the water and have become so accustom to the locals feeding them conch that now they let most people pet them. (As long as you have a snack for them)
The Sandbar
Located just south of Big Farmer’s Cay, this stretch of pure white sand emerges from blue-green water at low tide. It is widely known as the “Mile-long Sandbar” and is perfect for shelling, sunbathing, and picnicking. You will have it all to yourself on most days!
The Fountain of Youth and Oven Rock
Oven Rock is a lone standing pinnacle of limestone rock that has an opening that is eerily similar to an Oven. It is topped with a large Osprey nest that is sometimes occupied by an Osprey and its young.
The Fountain of youth is a freshwater pond inside of a cave system and legend has it a dip in this pond will give you eternal youth!
